Courses on safely working with electrical installations
These courses pertain to the IET Wiring Regulations and are designed for individuals who work or are otherwise involved in electrical installations.
They cover topics including electrical safety, wiring systems, protection measures and the requirements for installations. These training courses are accredited by City & Guilds.
Each of these 18th edition training courses are available at any of EAP Training's purpose-built training centres.

18th Edition – Requirements for Electrical Installations

This course is designed to lay a foundational understanding of the 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations, in accordance with current industry regulations on the safe wiring and operation of electrical systems.
Please note that the primary publication required on the day of the course is the 18TH EDITION BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 IET WIRING REGULATIONS. You can bring your own or this can be purchased from us before or on the day of the course.
The course will culminate in an assessment.
Course content is as follows:
- Scope, objective and fundamental principles of BS7671 - who the Regulations are for and what they are meant to do
- Definitions - explanation of the terminology used in the Regulations
- Assessment of general characteristics - surveying the site and equipment to be installed
- Protection for safety
- Selection and erection of equipment
- Inspection and testing
- Special installations or locations
- Past exam revision

18th Edition Update – Requirements for Electrical Installations
This course is designed for candidates who have already undertaken 18th Edition – Requirements for Electrical Installations prior to 1 January 2019.
City & Guilds advises that:
- If you have attended and passed the 17th Edition wiring regulations course in the last 12 months you CAN attend the 18th Edition 1 day update course
- If you have been applying and practicing within the electrical industry since passing the 17th Edition 3rd Amendment and are fully conversant with the 17th Edition wiring regulations you CAN attend the 18th Edition 1 day update course
- If you have attended the 17th Edition PRIOR to 2015, you will need to attend the FULL 3 day 18th Edition Course
