Abrasive Wheels

This training course aims to educate candidates on the safe election, fitting and use of abrasive wheels. The risks of the use of abrasive wheels and the mitigation of said risks is also covered.
The course content is as follows:
- Regulations and guidance affecting the use of abrasive wheels
- Abrasive wheels specifications – wheel types
- Wheel mounting and storage
- Damaged or faulty wheels and equipment
- Effects on health – silica dust and hand arm vibration
- Control measures – safe equipment use and hazard awareness
Abrasive Wheels including Diamond Blades and Silica Dust (RCS) Awareness

This training course focuses on raising awareness on the potential hazards associated with working with abrasive wheels, diamond blades and silica dust exposure.
The course content is as follows:
Abrasive Wheels
- Bonded abrasive products - EN12413
- Wheel specification and marking system
- Wheel inspection
- Mounting an abrasive wheel
- Recognising equipment faults / damage
Diamond Blades
- Blade marking system
- Blade construction
- Mounting a diamond blade
- Dry & wet cutting
- Fault diagnosis
Safe Operation and Control Measures
- Silica (RCS) awareness and dust management
- Hand Arm Vibration
- Noise
- Theoretical assessment
- Practical demonstration and assessment – mounting a wheel / blade for safe use
Safe Use of Petrol Driven Cut-Off Saws

This course is designed to train candidates on the safe and effective use of petrol driven cut-off saws in conjunction with abrasive wheels, in accordance with manufacturer guidance and current legislation. With accidents involving such equipment becoming more common, the course aims to raise industry standards and minimise future industries with a mixture of theoretical and practical delivery.
This course will culminate in an assessment.

- Health & safety
- Personal protective equipment
- Dust and silica awareness
- Noise and hand arm vibration
- Exhaust gas and carbon monoxide
- Machine pre-use inspection
- Blade selection
- Fuelling and fuel safety
- Cold and hot starts

Safe Fitting and Use of Diamond Blades

This training course is designed to provide individuals with an understanding of current legislation and practical considerations surrounding the selection of, fitting and usage of diamond blades.
This course will culminate in an assessment.
